Privacy Policy
1. Who's responsible for this data
Balance is currently in a closed trial phase, with invite-only access manually approved by the developer. Full legal identity (name and RUT) will be published in this section before opening registration to the public. Address: Santiago, Chile. For questions about this policy or to exercise your rights, write to contact@getsbalance.com.
2. What personal data we collect
- Identification data: name and email, provided when you join the waitlist and create your account.
- Financial data you enter: your movements (expenses and income), amounts, categories, assigned budget, and tags.
- Preferences: interface language.
- Feedback you send from the app: the type of comment, your message, and a technical context attached automatically so we can reproduce what you report (the screen you were on, language, app version, screen size, whether you use the installed app, browser, and sync state). That context never includes your amounts or movements, and you can review all of it before sending.
- Technical data: IP address, held transiently by our security provider to prevent abuse of the service.
We don't collect card numbers or banking credentials. Balance doesn't use passwords — access is via a one-time code sent to your email.
3. What we use your data for
- Providing and operating the personal budgeting service.
- Managing your registration and waitlist approval.
- Authenticating you by sending your access code.
- Preventing abuse and protecting the service's security.
- Automatically suggesting a category when you enter a movement in free text (see section 10).
- Understanding and improving the product from the feedback you send (see section 10).
We don't use your data for advertising, sell it, or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
4. Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent (when you register) and to perform the service contract you accept by using Balance.
5. Recipients and subprocessors
We only share data with the providers strictly necessary to operate the service: Supabase (database and authentication, São Paulo, Brazil), Resend (sending emails, São Paulo, Brazil), Anthropic (automatic category suggestions when logging a movement and internal summaries of the feedback you send, United States), Vercel (app hosting, São Paulo, Brazil), and Upstash (rate limiting to prevent abuse, processing only your IP address transiently). We don't share your data with any other third party beyond this list.
6. International transfers
Some of the providers listed above store or process data outside Chile, including in the United States and Brazil. Using Balance implies the international transfer of your personal data to those providers, under the corresponding contractual safeguards.
7. Retention period
We keep your data while your account remains active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account, which irreversibly erases your movements, budget, preferences, and any feedback you have sent.
We don't currently generate periodic backups of your information. This means that, when you delete your account, your data is erased immediately and doesn't remain stored in any backup.
8. Your rights (ARCOP)
As the data subject, you have the right to:
- Access: know what data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Cancellation: request deletion of your data.
- Opposition: object to certain processing of your data.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format (see also the export feature in your Profile).
- Blocking: request temporary suspension of processing your data.
You can exercise these rights by writing to contact@getsbalance.com. We'll respond within a maximum of 30 business days, extendable once for up to 30 additional business days, per Ley 21.719. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can file a complaint with the Personal Data Protection Agency (APDP).
9. Data security
- Each user can only access their own data — enforced at the database level (Row Level Security), not just in the interface.
- Passwordless authentication via one-time code, reducing the risk of credential theft.
- All communication between your device and our servers is encrypted.
10. Use of artificial intelligence
When you enter a movement in free text (e.g., "lider 25.990"), that text is sent to Anthropic, the provider of the language model we use, solely to suggest a category and extract the amount. This suggestion is always editable — you decide whether to accept, correct, or discard it. This is not an automated decision with legal or significant effects on you.
The feedback you send from the app (your message and its technical context) is processed periodically with Anthropic's artificial intelligence tools to generate internal summaries that help prioritise improvements. Those summaries are for internal use only, are never published, and are not used to make automated decisions about you.
11. Cookies and local storage
We only use cookies and storage strictly necessary for the service to function (keeping you signed in, remembering if you're in demo mode). We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
12. Minors
Balance is not directed at individuals under 18 and doesn't knowingly collect data from minors.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy periodically. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or within the app before they take effect.
14. Contact
